Any thoughts on this? http://www.sunsetcoins.com/
In reading some of their history it seems that at one time they were considered a top-notch TPG but through a series of ownership changes, they gradully dropped down to basement slabber category. Some of their earlier work is apparently still highly regarded. Seems like it might be a long road back but looks like they may be on the right track.

LOL, what an epic failure of a website The little "announcement" of JT Stanton joining PCI is five years old and two ownership groups ago. Other than the url redirect to sunsetcoins(who?), that site doesn't look like it has been touched in a few years. If the capitalization and retail/auction outlet of David Lawrence Rare Coins could not make PCI(marketed as Dominion Grading Service) a successful venture, I doubt if anyone could at this point. Not to mention the fact that ANACS and ICG are losing market share daily to PCGS and NGC, there is really not enough room for a fifth TPG and one with zero reputation.

the old PCI Green slabs have had quite a bit of success crossing with PCGS and NGC throughout the years and that is the early years of PCI they are probably talking about. I still see some PCI coins in gold holders non classics that I feel are graded correctly but not all of them. Its the moderns they seem to call all MS/PF-70's and has tarnished their reputation quite a bit. I do not know much about them since DLRC bought PCI so can't comment on that part of the topic

Three owners. (And the most recent owner has stopped production and is looking for a new buyer.)

You have to be careful with the old green PCI slabs now. The most recent owners early production look like the early respected first generation of the PCI "HALLMARK" type slab but they are not as strictly graded.

The whole TPG system, originally a good idea, is really messed up. Reslabbing, TPG shopping, grading to order, technical grading vs. market grading, slabbing and grading bullion coins, a hierachy of TPGs, etc, etc, etc has killed the concept for me. Also, unfortunately, as in most things, it's all about the Benjamins. Too bad.
