Easy way to help define a clipped planchet is put another coin just like it into the groove, it should fit perfectly.

This looks like someone threw it at the wall. Hard. Repeatedly. In anger at the loss of it's purchasing power.

well I dont think it can be classified as a clip as it doesn't go all the way through the coin but if you look at the ring that goes around the coin in the spots that its been dented in look like its just completely missing almost..very noticeable in the last picture

Yeah I see what you mean, some material appears gone... nipped with a grinder post mint or a little pinch at the mint... tough to know but it doesn't appear curved so I tend to think the problems happened later.

I agree. I've collected hundreds of clipped Canadian cents & this one is just damaged.
