I had to go back to the ad 3 times before commenting. If this seller is trying to pull the wool, then yes: that's just plain wrong.
But this guy might think he's got a unique piece. I cant count the times I've thought I've stumbled upon a treasure. Heck, I've posted pics here of what I've thought was something it wasn't. For sure, a decent image should be provided for such a grand claim.
This "overdate" looks questionable to me due to the "7" looks clear and the "0" Cud is nowhere near the rim. I hope this is just a case of an uninformed seller. When I read a description offering more than one possibility for an "error", I run. Also, if it were genuine; I think bidding would go high enough that free shipping would be no problem. Just that 22.50 postage stings.

It looks like he was trying to put a hole through it, got discouraged, then got mad and tried to sell as an error... Just an opinion, but sad really... I can't believe the crap they sell on ebay as errors. Toned coins as errors Holed coins as errors Not to mention the 100 thousand coins hammered to death...Just another byproduct of too many people with too much time on their hands I guess...

Give that guy an A for enthusiasm. In fairness, even a few collectors here have taken giant-sized leaps to prove their theories.
But, ebay is slightly different because it often includes The Manifesto of Wild Claims to hook a buyer--and the more all-caps, the better.
I'm reminded why collector communities like CCF are so invaluable.

I agree with Darth: looks like an attempted hole, using a punch.

The under bidder on the Auction can consider themselves lucky they didn't end up paying $25 for a 20¢ coin.

I can't imagine anyone bidding on this - the damage was apparent from the pics - but it got 13 bids.
I despair for the human race ... I can only guess that these bidders were from the shallow end of the gene pool.

He should be removed from ebay for that, I would turn him in... I know it's the internet and people get mad and say stupid stuff but there is a line that shouldn't be crossed no matter what... And from the feedback standpoint, it was the misinformed buying from the misinformed obviously... I LOVE this hobby, and it honestly saddens me when stuff like this happens...

I agree with Darth, again, about reporting the seller.

coldest night in Darwin in 10 years:
19.1 Celsius (that's 66 Fahrenheit) at 3am this morning;
yep, we could do with some Global Warming right now ...
