I think the mystery number has too much of a curl to be a 5.. So I think its a 1919..

Looks a lot with a 9 but right there where was suppost to be leg of the number 9 is big scratch and may be not a nine ! I also though about the number 6 ?!.. Any other guesses ?

At first look the number 6 stood out to me. I vote 6 as well.

I was thinking 1916 as well. I cannot tell, but is there a VDB on the shoulder? If so, then our 1916 guess is wrong.

Jbuck You the man ! Yes have the VDB on shoulder so is a 1919S because does not looks a 8 at all . See the union makes the power lol ! Thanks everybody !

My first guess before I looked at the other posts, was a 1916S.  ooops... should have read the rest of the way down.lol
