I'm looking to find some information on a 1876 nickel 3 cent piece that is missing it's center roman # pillar. The two outer pillars show basically no wear. Coin grades XF.40

What exactly do you want to know? 3CNs suffered from severe striking issues which caused an abundance of chips, Cuds, clashes, and weak strikes. It is actually harder to find one with a fully struck numeral(all vertical lines unbroken) on the reverse than it is to find a weak one.

This coin has a very nice strike, but on the reverse there is no sign of a center column... The two outer columns are very strong, all lines are visible. I'm not new to coin collecting or the Three Cent piece and I have never seen one like this. I'll try to scan a good picture.

Maybe its a Two Cent Piece. LOL (Just kidding) It could also be a struck through error?

If the center column is missing- you don't have a coin with a "very nice strike". Because of the obverse design, the reverse of the 3 cent nickels are struck very weakly in the center. I know this is what Biokemist already suggested, but it's the only reasonable assumption. Just like your other post, you ask, and then when someone actually qualified to answer does, you tell them they're wrong. Why ask?
