Now here in the states, I pull about 14 to 20 foreign coins per box of Lincolns... I was thinking it might be fun to attempt to put together a collection of these. The oldest I've found is a 1950 George... sure is heavy compared to today's coin. How many US coins do our Canadian brethren pull from a box of your own? Similar numbers? Just thought it might be interesting to hear from you guys... |

For myself I live close to the Windsor/Detroit border, and I get quite a lot of US coinage not just from roll hunting but in everyday change. Love sorting through pennies and pulling out them wheaties. I have been able to put together the start of a solid US collection. Oldest dates so far have been: 1 Cent 1919 5 Cent 1900 10 Cent 1965 25 Cent 1965 Also have 40 State Quarters so far! |

I've been getting full rolls from the bank of US coins these days. Full rolls of US dimes and quarters, mixed in with rolls of Canadian. Can't say I'm too excited to see those, considering the exchange rate these days. Edited by twoplustwo

The last box of Canada cents I got I think I got 15 Wheaties, plus I don't know how many Memorials..  |

I remember when I was on mIRC quite a few years ago I had a buddy that was in our elite group and we used to pick on him all the ntime when he would say how much something cost that he bought. If he would say he paid 500.00 CDN we would pick at him and ask, "what is that like $20.00 USD?" he would get so mad sometimes he would sign off and I guess thats why we did it so much, but at the time USD close to 2 to 1 and now the CDN is ahead of the USD . Now you all get to know how we used to feel when we would find those Canadian coins in out change, almost feel as if you got cheated of a half a cent or so when you received it

Hahaha... Can't say I'm trying to strike it rich on Canadian cents, but I was looking through the ones that I have found today, and I must admit I really enjoyed the change of scenery. It is extremely interesting to watch the portrait change across the years. Interesting spread of the US coinage into your rolls. Into FULL rolls... I can't believe that! |

Here in BC, I'm noticing that its not unusual at all to pull up to 30 or 40 and even a roll or so of Lincolns out of each $5 worth of one cent rolls.
5/10/25 cents I usually find a few US ones, though I hardly ever buy these in rolls. I get them and look through them for anything that might be worth anything :D and spend the rest as I need to.
I get a lot of Lincolns in change from stores, quite often I get US others 5/10/25 cents. I've NEVER got a US 50 cent piece or a US dollar coin and certainly never been handed US paper money from stores in my change.

I went down to virden, manitoba last week and got full rolls of us quarters, I found my first silver us dime there, I usually order boxes of dimes & pennies, quit counting but there is usually a full roll per box, oldest penny has been a 1910, average 3-4 wheats and one box had a crazy 80 wheats.

I live in a border town and pull quite a few US cents from my Canadian rolls. I would imagine at least 200+ US cents per box. I have also managed a few good varieties from the US cents. Off the top of my head I pulled 2 x 2000 WAM, 1 x 1998 WAM, 2007 Nice Prison Clash, 1892 IHC and several doubled columns to various degrees. I have a box of US cents I'm currently searching from coins that I have set a side while searching Canadian cents. Back to the grind for me. Happy hunting all. |

The oldest canadian cent I've found is a 1946, but I usually find at least a dozen each box.
You guys in canada get it pretty hard up there with all the Lincolns

I love finding Canadian cents in my rolls. In the last 6 month I've put together over 2/3 of a set of small cents! All I am missing is 14 George V's. Not bad for a set at face!

Here in Toronto we get a lot of US coinage in our change too, mostly pennies (maybe 3% to 5%) but decimals of all kinds. May Canadians I know collect US coinage, I think because you have had so many design changes and so many mints. |

I live in SW Michigan. In about 4 months I put together a nearly complete set of George VI and Lizzie cents. Still haven't found any George Vs, though. I'm missing the 1937, 39, 49, 54, 90 and 08-11. I've also found a number of the varieties - single and double hangers. It's pretty cool to be able to nearly complete a foreign date set from circulation.

I get a decent amount of canadian cents especially in customer wrapped rolls(I am 2 hrs from the border). Thats a good idea about starting a Canadian album!
