I only know about US coins, the smallest coin pictured is a Liberty nickel looks like a 1911 worth about $2. The others are British I think , I have no idea what the value is.

Looks like you have six half crowns. The Queen Victoria is nice KM# 740 I think. Can't give you the refs on the others as I can't read the dates.
Rule of thumb: British silver up to 1919 = .925% silver, thereafter up to 1947 = 50% silver.

Thanks for the reply. These are the dates: 1878,1915,1922,1923,1943,1955. Any rare dates?

Sadly they are all worth silver value, the Victorian coin is maybe worth a little more. (1955 is copper-nickel)

I would love to know how many of these "silver value" coins are getting melted.
In 20-30 yrs time the ones that survive the melting pot will probebly be worth quite a bit.
After all the effort of making a coin It seems an ablolute shame to melt them into a blob of silver.
Why can't people just use jewelry, spoons ect for scrap instead of destroying pieces of history.
Just wanted to put my 2 bobs worth in

Throughout history man has reused metals by melting and recasting. The silver coins that we have in our collections now may well have been different coins 300 years ago.
Having said all that, I've stopped selling silver. I hate the thought of it going to melt just as much as I hate selling collectable coins for less than melt.
