So, I'm rounding out my Half Cent slots and picked up a Classic 1832 today. I'm aiming to finish my type set with AU+ quality coins. This coin grades AU on the front side, with some original luster left. The back isn't in the same shape, but on the EF side. It seemed to be a good deal at $75, so I picked it up.

I noticed on the back, the F in Half Cent is obviously doubled to the east. There is a split serif on the top right, middle bar and at the bottom. The split is obvious enough to notice it with the naked eye if you look closely.

My books are 2000 miles away and I won't have access to them until November. Are there any online resources for half-cent varieties? Sorry all, I don't have pics for this sweet coin. By the way, I picked up a very nice Braided Half Cent and an appealing silver 3 cent piece.

Another look at this coin and I see a couple things. First, the high point is under the S in States and there appears to be a repunched D in UNITED to the lower right. I need to loupe it over again and maybe I can get a pic or two up here.

So I seem to be answering my own question, sorry. Here is a link to the same type of coin I bought, only mine has slightly more wear.

Does this variety carry an increased premium? 1932 C-3 Half Cent.

When I'm in your situation - looking for varieties I don't have the references for - I turn to Heritage Auctions. Their archives list a whole lot of varieties in the coins offered, especially earlier issues where collecting by variety is better-established. I's labor-intensive; they generally only talk about specific variety characteristics in the higher-grade sales, but many coins are sold with the variety indicated, if not what makes it that variety. So, you can look at their stupid-good images and compare to your coin, if nothing else.

Having done that with your coin, I'm inclined to agree with C-3. Does it have pitting from die rust around and below CE?

This isn't a huge value-added variety. With that said, I'm unable to explain why 1832 Half Cents sell for as cheaply as they do.
