Would like to know what this might be. It's not a gas bubble, I did the toothpick test it's solid. Just wondering, thanks much. John1

It might be a die clash.

if you look at this archived thread,,,, look at the reverse and you will see the same area in question labeled as die clash

Baaed on Maineman's post of Coop's pic, it appears to be part of Lincoln's cheek in the lower right hand corner of the eighth bay on your coin.

It confuses me why only part of the obverse device appears in the reverse and not the entire device. Can anyone offer an explanation for this?

I've found 2 pennys with the same clash, 1 in about the same location but the other is outside of the building but still "outfrom behind", I called it the hiding easter bunny when I first noticed them! not sure of the dates but will try to post photos.

Some times the mint workers only polish off the clashes that happen in the known areas and miss a y on LIBERTY in the second bay. The most common on the reverse is the shoulder in the third bay. But I'm not sure what this is? It could be a die dent. Keep in mind the bays outline are even with the field on the die. Si it may have received a hit on that bay?
