Here is a cool (at least to me) Major Struck Through (Consensus of CCF forum members)? Looking for any comments as to what exactly this would be labeled as. The coin is a 1999 LMC. Thanks in advance for any comments.

What in the world is that?

If it were a lamination peel, wouldn't zinc be showing?

I don't know - I'm asking.

Good question Scooby. There is no exposed zinc on the Rev or Obv.

There is no such thing as a lamination peel on a zinc cent. Lamination happens with impurities in mixed metal alloys. Zinc cents are 100% pure zinc plated in 100% pure copper. No alloys to mix.

This one is a genuine error - a struck through of some sort. I am unsure of exactly what it is, but I can tell you it's scarce and would be valuable to some degree. I hope Mike can come in and help clear this one up.

Interesting. That makes sense.

I've seen examples where the coin was not plated properly.
What if a chunk of copper plating did come off? What would that be called?

Either struckthough something or the planchet was damaged before striking. I am leaning towards struck-through error but I have no idea what it would be Can you get a weight? If the planchet was damaged that severely, the weight would probably be affected. It would have happened to the zinc blank before plating since the copper is undisturbed.

OK...Thank you very much for the info Chuck. Always learning and eager to do so. I look forward to seeing what Mike has to say if he has a chance to take a look. I'm a bit excited now.

Struck on a damaged planchet is what came to my mind first, but of course Chuck is right. If the planchet were severely damaged, AMERICA wouldn't have struck up fully and the coin would have a different appearance. Without a doubt, struck through something BIG.

VERY COOL ERROR!

I found it in a roll of Canadian Cents as I was CRH a couple months back. I did not think to much of it at the time. My opinion seems to be changing.

I found a cent a couple of weeks ago that looks very similar to this. I couldn't tell if it was PMD or an error. I can't for the life of me remember what date it was. I will post some pics as soon as I get home from work.

Here are a few pics I have of the OBV. If you need one straight on...let me know. I will take it back out of the 2x2.

In this pic you can see where the anomaly is (black arrow):
