My first clip that I have ever found! Very exciting.

I was doing some research and found the Blakesly Effect? (not sure on spelling) I couldn't find this in the glossary and was wondering if anyone could explain this effect?

The Blakesley effect is when there is not enough pressure when rimming the coin on the opposite side of the clip. Because the pressure is not even across the coin, the rim doesn't fill properly. I think you can see it right over the "E" in STATES.

The purists prefer the term "incomplete planchet".

Is that a large or small date?

To me and my unexperienced eyes, I believe this is a small date... this would also be my first time trying to decide/ tell the difference between the two.

I realize this thread is quite old, and the OP hasn't signed on in many years - but if you happen to see this, I have a friend interested in purchasing the '82 Small Date Zinc clip if you want to part with it.

He just needs an '82 SDZ and a 2006 clipped planchet to finish his complete Lincoln clip set.

Just noticed. This is not a single curved clip coin. It is a double clipped coin on the OP's image. Take a look again at 3:30 on the images.
