It's getting to the point that authenticated expensive coins need to be sent for authentication authentication in order to guarantee a sale. That is just sad, when will it all end?

7 Day return. Has he sent it back! Also, the toning on the obverse is suspect, along with the minor subtleties in wear with the reverse.

Unless I'm just imagining this since I know it's a fake - the font on the slab looks off. It is definitely scary though!

Does anyone recall a while back, someone from the Sacramento area got busted for putting split "key" Morgans in fake slabs? I wonder, because this seller is from Sacto too.

Why is his profile still on ebayOh because their cut of $4600 Bogus deal is to good to cancel the account of a dead beat thief! Oh I forgot the $40 Shipping Cost was a great clue of the true nature of the seller

That is scary, any details on how it turned out? What will happen to the seller? Did they get their money back, etc.

According to the PCGS Certification Database, the requested certification number is defined as the following:

PCGS Cert. Verification comes up legit

Wow, that's scary. It sure would have fooled me.
Hopefully the buyer paid with PayPal. If so, there is plenty of time to file a Not as Described claim through PayPal if the seller won't accept a return.

Slobbing has come full circle. Supposedly, slobbing allows for a sight-unseen market, because any xf40 16d dime is the same, just like any share of stock is the same (and I can't believe that anyone ever fell for that BS). Now, even seeing the coin, you have to verify the holder. Quick quiz, which is going to get you more prison time, counterfeiting US money or making a fake plastic holder? Quote: Oh I forgot the $40 Shipping Cost was a great clue of the true nature of the seller Not really. If the seller doesn't know that registered mail is cheaper, a small priority box w/$4600 insurance and SC would be around $55.

Express mail would be even cheaper with insurance.

King Julius was selling shoes, clothes, 99 cent DVDs then one $1.70 Merc, then comes up with a 16-D Merc? That would have been enough to scare me away.

Looking at different slabs for a while and this 16 d Merc reverse monogram looked odd enough for me to raise a flag.

OneBowl - I definitely agree. And he hardly has any feedback either relative to the sellers who deal with merchandise of that value.
Vermont - I looked at that too. Unfortunately it's easy enough to just swipe the # off another 1916-D. That's why some sellers like blurring out the cert # on the postings.
