When I was young there were dealers who sold world coins by the pound for kids to play with and learn geography. Are there still offers like this?

Some dealers won't fool with common world coins, but others will put out boxes of them to attract kids to the hobby (and old guys like me). The going rate, I believe, is around $6-$8 (USA) per pound.

Just type "lb" in World Coins for a boatload. One auction is offering 2 lbs. of nothing special, but because they're in 2x2's; are currently @ 90.+!

I love going through coins by the pound. I usually find maybe a couple of dozen for every 150 I go through. I collect common, circulating world, so that is a good hit. But I don't find the $5-$6 per pound. the cheapest I found was 9+ per pound plus another 5 to ship. If anyone knows of a dealer in the San Jose, Ca area selling world coins by the pound for $6/pd, please let me know

There are some lots on ebay in the $5-6 range, but most are higher. Search for "pound" in world coins.

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking of my grandchildren and they are only 3 and under right now. Looking for the future.
