I decided to go through alot of my coin collection looking for double die's or other errors...this was my grandfathers collection and it has been passed down to me. I noticed the rim of this coin has a break in it...and on the opposite side it appears to have a similar break on it.

I would normally say it was just damaged but they are on exact opposite sides of the coin ( so when you are looking at the back of the coin the mark is on the left...but its on the right side on the front...)...it was possible that this was clipped during its minting.

What do ya think?

to the CCF.

Alas your coin has been damaged after it left the mint ... struck/hit by something.

Keep posting your questions and we will offer honest opinions.
