Pics don't do justice...I am working on that.

What happened to this coin? Has not been heated - coin is perfect except for missing some plating on both sides.

Thoughts?

I have a zincoln that's missing most of its copper on both sides..

Maybe a weird acid?

Here is some better pictures, courtesty of Photoshop 9. (VERY easy to work with).

I don't think this erro is from an outside source. If it was heat or chemical, there would be some sort of trace on the edges when the zinc and the plating.

I dunno. I've seen similar alway chalked it up to PMD science fair project maybe?...

I have one just like this I bought from ebay (cheaply) and on mine it looks like the plating was chemically removed with a Q tip type of wipe. I can't tell from your photos if your coin is exactly the same but I suspect it is.
