Went to a small-ish local coin show yesterday and didn't have much money to spend. I did find a dealer who had some of their silver dimes marked in the $2-3 range. The last time I went to my local shop, they were selling junk silver dimes for $3.90 + tax each, so I figured I couldn't go too wrong here. I ended up trading a crisp $20 bill for these 8 silver dimes:

8 junk silver dimes would have cost me $32 + tax at the shop. The dealer's marked prices would have ended up at $23, but she rounded it off to an even $20. I was pretty happy even though I didn't have much to spend...just thought I'd share :)

I go to a little shop where the lady uses a price book from 2008, to bad I have picked everything I want. I loved that I was able to pick up a few rolls of $4 and $5 quarters.

Wow, that's kind of crazy. You'd think as a dealer, she might have heard that prices have gone up substantially in recent months. I wish I could find quarters at $4!

It is a little antique shop and these are from an inherited collection so I don't think she cares either way.

I would be asking her if she's planning on getting more in.

Thanks everyone...it was fun shopping around, even on a budget :)

That actually makes sense...I've found some very interesting buys at antique shops before.

Nice, I went to a show yesterday and found a few nicer (Au or so) Mercury dimes for $2. Some of these dealers don't have time (or don't care) to keep prices following silver. Good for us!

That's very cool. I was kind of thinking I might head to the coin shop when I get paid and look through their 2x2'd pre-priced dimes & quarters to see if they care about updating prices or just want to make sales. If I can get some of the dimes for the $2-3 range, I'll probably go for it.
