I have a 1965 copper quarter that is the same width as a regular quarter and I was wondering how much it might be worth and how can I clean it without damaging it.

DO NOT CLEAN IT!
Weigh it on a jewelry scale.
Post images of both sides.

Bigfredd is right don't clean it and if it is copper I would send it in to get graded/slabbed. Something like that could be worth something. Please post pictures too, I would love to see it.

I am confused.
There's nothing special about a 1965 copper quarter.

It is special if it was struck on a copper core that was separated from the Cu-Ni cladding. This is why it need to be weighed before anything else.

Sorry if I was unclear I assumed it was stuck on copper core like Jbuck said, if so it would be worth quite a bit.

In the other thread it was requested several times for a weight. Without that information the assumption must be plated or discolored.

You missed it:
"I've had it for 35 years. It has darkened over the years and appears quite a bit darker than the photos show. I weighted it on my crude scale at 5.625g . I also got about the same for a normal quarter."
