Not to be the bad guy here, but not everyone that buys that HSN stuff is a dummy, they just aren't collector-savvy. I'm guessing many that have bought the NY towers tribute coin, the colored coins and bills, the Princess Diana plates, et al, are very happy with them, and love looking at them, just as we like looking at our stuff. Sometimes coin collectors get burned, too.

Anytime somebody who calls you "my friend" and wants your money, you can be assured he has something going on.

I can't find the website, but a few years ago some company had this full page ad in the 'Parade' section of the our Sunday paper. They were advertising a safe that came with a bunch of "free" coins, and paper money (a ASE, bunch of $2 bills, etc). They worked up the quality of the safe, geared towards the older generation. Way over charged for what you got as usual.

Out of all the crap that people sell as "collectibles"(as mentioned above), I feel bad for the coin dealer who is gonna have to hear these people when they come into his/ her shop trying to sell something they think is "very valuable", and they have to break them the news... It's not good for collectors or business owners... I guess I can understand why coin shop owners would be a little grumpy from time to time...
