I love the resources and information from our great family but I was wondering if there were any classes close to my area, Columbia SC that I could take or any online/video classes?

I heard of the ANA having a numismatic diploma program that I think is through the mail, but haven't heard of anyone going through the course.

I'll look them up. I know someone puts on a summer thing with courses, ect but it's a little out of my $ range. I am a hands on guy so I like to physically see what I am learning. Picts are ok but I learn better physically looking and doing. I REALLY need help grading better, also in spotting errors, ect. I have lots of lincolns, nickles, ect and I may something valuable in them but right now I would have no idea.

Unless you have a very large club(>250 members) in your local area, the chances of finding any type of numismatic-related classes is very small. Some of the large regional and national conventions have seminars. The ANA offers the Summer Seminar Series in Colorado Springs in the summer and those are, hands down, the most comprehensive numismatic education courses you get anywhere. The one non-classroom program I know of is the ANA Numismatic Diploma Program administered as correspondence courses but you have to be an ANA member.

If you do not mind the trek from the midlands to the upstate, you might want to consider attending the 2011 SCNA 39TH Annual Convention and Coin show.

There is also a coin show in Columbia in May.
