I was just checking the US Mint website and saw the price for a 2011 Silver proof set at $67.95. The non silver is about $30.00 less. I figured the 'silver value' for the 7 coins that are silver and the remaining $1.00, penny and nickel. The 'value' for the set was $5.06 for non silver and $53.91 ( (124) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed earlier on 4/13/11)for the silver content items. To me this is a very good deal since you are getting this for a few dollars more than value! The non silver coin value is only $6,91 so the difference against value, even though the silver proof cost is more plus with silver going up daily (I know it can come back down but even so) Something to think about!

HUH? "What you talk-in bout Willis?" Silver will always be "worth" silver. The value and price the collector will pay is completely different. Maybe something is lost in the translation after editing.

The point I was trying to make is that if you are buyint a proof set, the Silver Proof (actual silver value ~ $55.26 and non silver coins $5.06) value today is just over $60.00 and costs $67.95. The Non silver costs about 37.95 and has only the actual monetary value of $6.91. To me it's much more worth buying the Silver proof due to the value for the money. you are basically paying $30 over actual value for the non silver and only a couple dollars over 'value' in the Silver proof. I know all about what collector's value, all I was trying to do was show that the Silver Proof is actually much more cost effective due to Silver's high value.

Get them while the getting is good, the 2010 silver set is now unavailable on the website, undergoing price adjustment. Went from $56.95 to $64.95 in mid-March, probably will be repriced at $67.95 to match the 2011 set.

yes, buy while we can. I'm sure the 67.95 price will adjust soon as well seeing as the value is almost the cost.

How did you get free shipping? Just wondering. We have no tax on this type of transaction in NJ

well now the 2011 silver proof sets are not available as well as the 2010 on the US Mint site. I guess with silver so high the price almost equals the value.
