I got a call from a friend Sunday asking if I was still in the antique business & if I was interested in coins. Turns out their ex-boss inherited a large estate that has tons of stuff....including what is supposed to be lots of coins. I told them to pass my contact info to their ex-boss & have them call me. The ex-boss called Monday afternoon. Evidently their parents opened some sort of business in the late 60's-early 70's with the idea that they could pull all the silver they found out of circulation. I didn't get exact numbers out of them but she said there were "bags & bags of coins". She said she sorted out all the non-silver & needed help to figure out what should be sold as "junk silver" & what was collectible. Although she didn't specify denomination she said the oldest one she found so far was from 1811. I've got all my reference books & my greysheet packed & ready to go. She also has boxes of jewelry, which is my main line so I'm taking my scale, loupe & gold tester also. It's looking like it will be a fun day.

I'm sitting here drinking my morning coffee, my supplies are on the table next to the front door & the truck is gassed up. I've got about a 2 hour drive & my appointment is for 9:30 so I'll be leaving soon. Just got permission from the wife to take her camera so I'll try to get a picture or two. I hope this pans out......

At least give us a general idea of what you find, and perhaps note the more significant pieces, if any.
You have at least hooked our interest!
As an executor, I once had to clean an old house out, and found about $5,000 worth of numismatic items, including blocks of banknotes in pristine condition.

Could or should be real interesting. From that one date you mentioned sounds like you found a winner.

Wow! What a dream come true. I'd love to run into that...well now that I think about it I kinda did when my father in law passed he had a hoard of coins that I never knew he had. He used to own a coin and stamp shop in the 70's and early 80's. He culled most of teh high end stuff but I still got to go thu box after box of coin, mostly silver, great fun.
