I was having a discussion with my better half the other day about getting one of the kindles or a similar model something that showed colored photos so I could have my coin references with me where ever I go. She decided to look them up and see what coin references were available for the different readers and discovered the pickings to be very slim. I was wondering if any of you have thought of this as a viable option or would use it if the right references were in e-print? Secondly how would one go about getting the publishers to make them available, I would assume in this day and age the books are already in someones computer and would just need some formatting tweaks to be ready. Any thoughts.

It depends on your field of interest. I use Krause for coins which are converted to PDFs.
But for my medals and tokens I've downloaded maybe 30 copywrite free PDFs from:

It's a great site for books of all kinds. It's free and it's legal.

WOW Great site Bob thanks for the link. This will get me started in the right direction. Still looking for something smaller than a laptop to put them on though. Something I could take into a coin show.

I've got an ASUS netbook. Reads PDFs, has WiFi, good battery life; poor screen.

I dont mean to bring up an old topic but... I think an e-reader is the way to go. You can pick and choose from tons of coin books including the 2012 price guide to purchase at a discounted price.

You can also download pdf files from any website for a resource.

I got the new nook color the other day and am extremely oleased with it. On, thing that has bothered me thus far is there are no coin magazines yet to diwnload.
