It gets a lot more difficult to find large coins as the years get earlier. The 1500's are where my collection fades.

This is very interesting piece because on the reverse is some Hebrew in the middle and around: "MONETA NOVA" means NEW COIN in Polish.

Do you think the designer of this coin was a supporter of Sigismund (who was deposed by his uncle Karl) or did he simply have sense of humor by giving the obverse a face with two eyes, a nose, a mouth and two ears as the date (9 9).

Litotes, that's ^ a great coin! I have been trying to land one of those for awhile now, but it seems I am fishing in a depleted sea.

Fancy a 1596? Here is a 'three brothers' thaler from Saxony. Size= 40mm; probably used as a body ornament at one time.
