I simply love the Ducat 1586, and the Kruisrijksdaalder 1584 also was a very nice coin. As for the francs 1585 and 1587, I really didn't know they used that denomination as early as the 16th century. Fascinating!

1583

Maley Gross, Bohemia. Minted in Budweis. For those who fancy a room-tempered Budweiser

A nice maley gross Litotes, did you know, it was the first time Czech language was used on coin?
Maley means "small" and gross is Latin for "big".

Gross is also German for big--another language used in this region.

Wonderful Bavarian coin Litotes! I really like the rampant lion design.

Thanks, guys. That thaler is one that did -not- come from the internet, else it probably would have been too pricey.
Great detail is what it's all about for me with the project I am working on.

Here's hoping your motivation for that challenging career choice is more than just an attraction to expensive shiny things. I will also wish you quick success because I am rapidly reaching the point where I will need to exchange my treasured trinkets for the services needed to keep this worn-out body functioning.

Moving on to 1578, here is one of the nicest quarter ecus of Henry III I have been able to find at a reasonable price. Slightly-out-of-round size = 29mm.

Excellent 1/4 ecu! So many are poorly struck and harshly cleaned. La Rochelle is one of my favorite mints.
