If you read my other posts you know that I recently bought a group of coins from an estate. I bought all of these coins based on my opinion of grade & whether or not they had been cleaned. There are a couple of these that I think I might not have paid fair market value for. I'm not going to disclose what I paid, but if the forum opinion of grade/condition varies greatly from my own I'm going to contact the seller & make things right. I'm hoping I'll get some good opinions of grade, what problems you see & if the coin is impaired(cleaned, damaged, etc) what percentage of non-problem value would you have paid. My pics are not the best....if there's something I think the pics don't show I'll point it out. In the hope of getting a better pic I shot this coin with a different light source. It looks like the only thing that accomplished was to turn the white background yellow. Numerous small rim dings throughout. This is another one I might have low-balled.

VG-10. You can go into windows photo gallery and click on 'auto fix' to get rid of the yellow I have found.

I can't decide if it reaches VG-10 on the obverse or not. Either way, a $400 coin in a slab.

Yeah, the obverse is a bit weak for 10.

I flip-flopped back and forth on this one between G & VG, still haven't made up my mind. I don't think the small rim dings are enough to keep it out of a slab. I may be making my first submission to one of the TPG's if I can come up with enough coins worth slabbing. ANACS is running a $10/coin special right now for dollars & cents with a 10 coin minimum so I'm leaning in that direction.

If a coin is a key or a semi-key, it will usually get market graded despite having some rim hits. Worst case I think they might knock it from a VG down to a G. For junk silver, might get bagged. Just the way things work...
