I hope someone can help me with Identifying these Medieval coins from Europe?! I have no knowledge of them besides the French Lelie and the cross on some coins. It also looks like the last one is goldplated or something... All help and input is welcome

Hi,

I don't think these are coins at all, but jetons. They are emulating silver coins, though they are clearly a base metal. They were a kind of counting token but I suspect a few did circulate as money in areas where change was scarce.

Mostly they came from Nuremburg (part of the Holy Roman Empire at the time) but there were other sources such as France or the Netherlands.

The jetons upper right and lower left are commonly known as "Venus counters" or "Venus jetons"

Yes Bacchus they are indeed Jetons, and now I know that 2 are socalled Venus Jetons.. I was still wondering though if that last one might be goldplated!? Looking forward to some more info, because this is not my area... but like them :)

Also thank you Enlil, I will be looking at that website for sure!

So does anyone know if these would be worth anything, and especially the last one (goldplated?)

I was offered €5 for a holed one (#3), seems like a fair price, right?
Anyway I still have no idea because I cannot undertsand the lettering on the sides, gues they are too corroded..

I would assume they're solid brass, rather than gold-plated. I don;t think gold plating would survive that much corrosion.

Price? Anything more than a few dollars is more than fair.
