Hey all, Well I bought a 1932 P Washington and would like to have your opinions. Here's the ebay link of what I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ht_500wt_922Item number was 270735080908 if that link doesn't work. After watching the prices for a BU 32 P for about two weeks I felt that $20 for this coin was a good deal I ask the seller if what was being sold was in the picture (answer was yes), he was really quick to respond and answered all my questions. I felt the picture looked good for both obverse and reverse and felt that for the start of my album that $20 bucks was a good deal but not too good to be true. I felt like I did everything I should have when I bought this, but I fear the coin I received was not the one in the picture. My first clue was that when I got it today it was in a 2x2 mylar for a half dollar and not a quarter mylar. If you look at the picture in the ebay link the quarter is in a nickle\quarter 2x2. So the coin was that the very least, moved from one 2x2 to a different. On the ebay coin there are some spots that I noticed but was OK with...i don't see those on the coin I got today. Here is a link to some pics I took of it today. https://picasaweb.google.com/104645...Hr7fDgLORWw#The first two are high res scans of the coin and the others are some quick photos I took. I feel like the high res scan does a great job at the details but doesn't show the luster of the coin. The coin is nice but as you can see from the hi res scan it doesn't seem BU to me, it seams AU at best. But, I am new and my be looking at the wrong things. I just see nicks and dings that I don't think a BU coin wold have. All in all, I like the coin ,and I know that goes a long way, but I feel like the description of BU was mis-leading. I want to give fair but accurate feed back on ebay so I want to make sure that I'm not being unfair.

100% sure it's a different coin unless it was shipped in a bag of jagged rocks. The nose and cheek on yours has obvious marks that are definitely absent in the one posted (and it's *not* a case of flattering lighting being used). The one in the ad also seems to have a lot more luster. I'd recommend informing the seller of the error (it could have been a simple mistake) and going from there.

It's obviously a different quarter. Why move it to another flip? Those things cost money too. The one on the ebay link looked great...the one you got, not so much. The huge hit on the nose, shame. I'd inform the seller about it not being the same coin as the one in the pic, you had even asked about. Take it from there. Bad news...You have to eat the shipping.

But, as for BU...maybe, it does look like there could be some rub on the breast feathers, so . But if you like it, that's what matters.

I concur with the others, it's not the same coin. The cartwheel luster of the coin pictured in the listing is noticeably absent from the quarter in your pictures. Talk to your seller, perhaps he accidentally sent you the wrong coin, it happens if he has 100s of listings up at one time. At the very least, you can send the coin back for a refund of the purchase price.

The one you received is definitely not the coin pictured in his ebay listing. You should contact the seller and tell him he sent the wrong coin and you are going to return for the one pictured. If he does not have that coin or has an excuse as to why he can't send it file a wrong item sent complaint with ebay. This guy must not get away with misrepresenting the coins he sells. I believe their should be a thread on this forum which lists the ebay sellers that members need to be cautioned about that they can view BEFORE they bid on those sellers' coins. I personally have never bought a coin through ebay and probably wouldn't unless he/she is a member of the ANA at the very least. ANA LM-3175

Gents, thanks for all the feed back. It has helped bolster my confidence in my observations. Kinda makes me feel good that I was on the right path about the quality. I have emailed the seller with some options. We'll see what the guy's integrity is like I guess with his response, or lack thereof. I definitely don look at this as a loss, I learned which is good and I feel like I have a knack for what a great specimen should look like. All your comments and suggestions are great to learn from as well. I also realized that this probably should have been posted in the Modern US Coin forum rather than the classic. so I will keep that in mind as well. Once again thanks for the opinions and I will let ya'll know how this turns out.

Yes, I can't access the PJ Hankins web album either. I would be interested in seeing the differences between the ebay item and the delivered coin. If it is a different and lesser coin I would insist on a full refund including shipping or perhaps a partial refund to compensate you for keeping the quarter you received. ebay has a resolution team available for this sort of thing, if needed.

Does this link work below? I copied and pasted it to a browser window without being logged in as me. For some reason when I Post links it shortens them. Can I upload the pictures right to this discussion thread? http://picasaweb.google.com/1046459...locked=true#Update on the story I did ask for a %50 refund and he has agreed to that, saves hassle, shipping and I still get a decent looking quarter to hold a place until I get a nicer specimen

Well the saga continues on this. I have contacted the seller and supposedly he is going to give me a %50 refund which I suggested. I like the quarter, that means I won't have to hassle with shipping it or paying to ship it, he still makes a little on the quarter. In turn he want my neutral feedback to be modified, which if he follows through as promised I will probably work with him on his feedback. He has been pretty fair to deal with, after being called out. Interestingly enough he has yet to answer the question as to the whereabouts of the original coin. His last comment was "as I recall I shipped out a pretty neat coin" But still no answer to the original.

Strange. I think that 50 percent refund is a fair deal, and so I would do that same. I aggree with you.
