Given the day I thought I'd share my favorite medal from my collection with everyone. It's my bronze Centennial Celebration of the Battle of Lexington medal. It's interesting to think that 136 years ago someone bought this for $1 just a couple of miles from where I live! I wish I could have paid $1 for it too! As for the other 199 that were made...who knows where they are today, or the 4 gold medals that were struck. One each were probably given to President Grant and Vice President Wilson who were in attendance. Have a great day everyone!

The bronze ones are pretty well scattered. Three of the four gold medals are known, and currently in Lexington as it happens. The fourth gold is missing. It might turn up some day. Or, it might have been melted at some point in the last 135 years. The only way we'll know for sure is if it turns up.
