I asked for a 1895 dime is it too good to be true?
All the feedback is positive and deals with the u-pick thing.
Red Book says $80 in good.

I don't know why anybody in their right mind would offer that for $4.50. Tell you what. You tell us when you get it.

That is... if you get it. He already confirm that dime for you? It says first to ask gets first pick...do you know what pick you were? Perhaps the seller uses that as a ploy to suck you in, then, too bad someone already chose that. But if so, then cha-ching!

Get it. Worst case scenario (assuming the bidding doesn't go up exponentially in the final hour), your out a few bucks for a coin you shouldn't have bought, best case, you have just scored huge.

EDIT: Wait this is a BIN? Do it!

Yeah I didn't lose much since I paid $3.05 in ebay Bucks!
Also if he/she sends me some other dime, chances are I don't have the dime in my collection, either that or melt anyway is $3.18 (but I wouldn't do that)

Well, after deep pondering, I think I figured it out. It's one on those with a hole in it.

The 1895 in the list is just bait to get people to bid on his dimes, he probably doesn't have it. Would you sell an $85.00 ( Coin World value) coin for $4.50?

Probably a typo on his part or a ploy to get people to buy the other dimes after he reports the 1895 is "out of stock"

I would be really interested to hear how this comes out. I hope that it works out nicely for you. There must be a catch.

I emailed the seller and asked if she had any more 1895's...she said yes, then 12 minutes later said it was sold.

With ebay you really never know. Someone I know saw an add for a $5 gold coin for $5. Rushed to purchase it and got it for $5 and the seller paid for postage. Had it checked out at two different coin stores and it was real. You never know about ebay.

I noticed the listing has been updated as promised and as you were told, Maineman750. No more 1895...so let us know rachums107 if you got it.

Well it appears I was too late, and I did notice 10 other people had already bought dimes from her/he, and they probably all went for the 1895. But she/he gave me the choice of some others, and I asked for an 1896 which apparently she/he hadn't posted yet, so I got first pick
Either way silver hit $46 and the dime is worth $10 in G4 in Red Book, so I made my money back!

I didnt really expect to get the 1895, but you know, it was worth a try.

Never mind, they said they were out of 1896, this is starting to get annoying.
I asked for a 1914-s and the mintage is only 2.1 million so it should be worth more in the future. Either way, I am happy and I would have payed for this at a coin store or anywhere else for this price.
Thoughts?
