This is one of my favorite coins. It has a really cool cameo look to it. I've never seen another coin like this. Don't know how it got to be this way, but it makes for a nice type coin I think. The background actually looks even darker in hand.

"Circulation Cameo" is what they call it, and yes, it's a great look for a coin.

THAT'S what an ORIGINAL circulated coin should look like!

This thread should be pinned to the top of the forum and that picture framed!

Wow! That really is beautiful. I like circulated coins and I think this is the most beautiful Peace dollar I have seen. Just enough wear to know she has seen the world, more than enough detail to accentuate the beauty of the design.

I agree with Prethen... I wish more circs looked like that... Gorgeous!! I would even say the detail is almost AU, but that look is wild

it kind of looks like a fake coin by the color to me. I would have a hard time differentiating it from a fake unless I could identify the VAM or something. I guess this is just me since everyone else seems to have a different opinion but would be difficult for me

Eww, I really hope it's not fake, it doesn't take to a magnet and the weight feels the same as other Peace dollars I have.

How about you send it to me and I'll test it...I'll even send you another Peace dollar (or Morgan) to hold as security. If your dollar turns out to be fake, you can keep my genuine Peace dollar and I'll take the loss. It'd be just like a trade...would you go for that?

Though I must admit, I might be tempted to call it a "fake" even though it's not...but that's a risk you are willing to take, right?

Tempting but I'll pass :) I really don't think it's a fake, why would someone go to the trouble of faking such a common date anyway?

Neat term, really brings out the design, doesn't it?
