Here are the pics of the 3 cent nickel I got at the flea market Sunday. Not too easy to see through the cellophane window of the 2x2. It is rotated counterclockwise approximately 60 degrees.

Semper Fi mitchhailey.

I got the coin in a bag of foreign coins and there were several silver pieces also in the bag. I paid $5.00 for the bag. See my post "Flea Market Finds" for pictures of the coins enclosed in that zip lock bag.

I contacted an error dealer I know and he suggested I weigh the coin and look to see if the obverse had been removed and replaced so I put the coin on my scale and it weighs 2.08 grams instead of the 1.94 a real Three Cent Nickel weighs. I looked at it very closely with my 10 power loupe and found that the coin a had just casually looked at is actually an old cast copy. Imagine that.

The weight is within tolerance 1.94 gm +/- .259 gm

Rotated reverses are not real unusual on this series.

A contemporary cast counterfeit of this coin would probably be more desirable than a genuine piece.

I don't see anything about this coin that would make me think it's a fake.

I agree I too think this one is real. Rotated reverses are really more common than people think. Yours is excessive though so would be worth a little more to error collectors.
