Somebody advertise in ebay Bicentennial Silver Set 40% silver. I know that Dollar and Half are 40% silver, but I didn't know if there is any 40% Quarter.
In Red Book, it says many of S silver mint were melted in 1982. It shows one regular and one proof 1976 S mints, which one were melted? Or may be both? Is that carry premium since it become rare?
Can somebody help me to answer these questions?
Thanks

The 1976-S Bicentennial Silver Quarter is the only U.S. Quarter Dollar ever struck in 40% silver. They are not rare or scarce at all and are usually valued at melt unless certified in an ultra-high grade. The proofs do carry a slight premium over the business strikes and there is no concern about the number melted. These were collector pieces and many millions remain.

These coins are a forgotten gem, they look real nice and no one seems to pay them any attention. I agree with BH, they generally sell for the silver value, no real premium.

as was stared above all 3 coins are 40% silver in this set. I have a few of the proof versions and the BU sets that came in the envelope and in both sets the coins were made of silver. I actually broke open one set of silver BU coins to include in my type set album. They are not rare by any stretch of the imagination but they do carry a premium over spot price just because of what they are (I think these are the only Bicentennial coins that actually are worth anything)
