This is a small group of cents that have doubling one or more of the
digits. Some of these are listed in Zoell's as recut or doubled dies.
In my opinion these are machine doubling- flat shelf-like and appear, in some cases, on other elements of the design:

I agree with you. These are all Machine Doubling - flat shelf-like doubling and not a Doubled-Die or RPD.

To add - many times this Machine Doubling (mechanical vibration) takes place at the beginning of a die run before the coining press is "tighten-down".

I've seen (in hand) 3 of the five (5) known Mint State examples of the well known 1916/1916 5c Buffalo nickel Double Die Obverse. One of the examples in addition to Die-Doubling show a good amount of Machine Doubling - it's a wild visual vibration!

Very nice. There are tons more as well throughout the George VI years. I am going to go pout now, because you have some that I have been hunting for well over 5 years now (e.g. 1938, 1955)!

I admit I'm not an error searcher but I'm curious, I have a number of rolls from these years and no time to deal with them. Part of it is, I just can't see these types of things without a magnifying glass and as much as I like the big lighted one on my desk it's painful to deal with the thing too long.

Maybe dropping the cents on the scanner bed and doing one large massive scan for a bed full would be a better approach - then I could see them on the big monitor at high res.

Nice group! If these are Machine Doubling, I would think they're not restricted to specific dates, and they vary from coin to coin.

I have duplicates of almost all of the dates which, in my mind makes them pretty common.

I love those coins.
What about triple MDD, is that the same? Is it more rare?

Machine tripling has roughly the same appearance but tends to look quite dramatic and is not nearly as common as Machine Doubling. A Jefferson nickel with machine tripling was just posted a few days ago- https://goccf.com/t/86755
