My boss just showed me 3 State Quarters that he received from the store. They are brown on one side and red on the other some are red on the obv or are red on the reverse. What would cause this. and is this a error. My though is it missing it clad layer. I know a picture who really help I will bring them home with me tonight and try to get picture that show it. I have tried a few thing to check and make sure it wasn't painted on. Any ideas
Probably environmental damage, but impossible to tell without examining the coin. Images usually won't help on these, because weight is a factor, as is a detailed examination of the struck surfaces.
