Hi: Is anyone familiar with this coin. I am trying to figure out the metallic value, i.e. how much gold is in this set. TIA, Alan.

If the privy marks only are gold, they are only selectively gold plated. As such, the real worth of the tiny amount of gold plating is worth only a negligible amount.

The coin will take it's rightful position in value in the silver bullion coin market. Interesting coin, anyway!

Thanks very much. That was my surmise, good to have it confirmed. The one on ebay went for $2178.

From what I have read the 99' Privy was actually a Solid Gold Insert and not just a Plated Privy. Never knew that either I always thought it was just plated.

This was for a US States version that had 5 privy's ? So that price may have been about right, as for the weight of the inserts no idea and no reference I could find. Also towards the end of April and Early May Silver was in a mini bubble and prices reflected this. Same coin now would probably sell for $500 less roughly ?

Can you recall the privy or a listing reference.

I'm afraid I didn't save a link to the ebay listing. It was really difficult to find any info on that coin. Thanks for the reply.

yup that's the one, not sure on how big those privys are ? I can't tell from the photos but I would suggest the 5 coins surrounding would be part of the first issue of a new release of circulating 1/4's in order of when they joined the union. Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia and Connecticut.

I reckon while a little high in Bullion value it is a great collectors item and the price is probably about right. Would love to know what the weight on the privies are. That 1kg coin is a monster so there is a bit of gold in there.

Don't know about the Kilo coins but if it helps at all I have the 4-coin '98 2-oz set with sovereign privies and I believe each gold privy insert is supposed to be about a gram of 999 fine Au.

Here's a pic of one if it helps gauge the size of the insert at all (diameter of the coin is circa 50mm) - please excuse the poor photography as it's from a cheap microscope that sadly has no real colour capabilities, hence the insert looks the same colour as the coin lol...
