I'm doing the happy dance because I've acquired a coin that I've wanted for quite a while. It has been pretty hard to acquire (but not because of cost... that's a hint). To celebrate, I'm throwing a trivia contest here. There are 5 questions, 5 prizes, 5 winners. Each winner will receive... well, actually, the prizes are thematically tied to one of the questions, so I'll describe the prizes after that question has been successfully answered. But the prizes are numismatic and worth more than 8 colorized quarters (and current color-melt prices). Here are the rules:
- Must have 10 posts or more to play.
- The first person to correctly answer a question, wins that question's prize. (All 5 prizes are basically identical.)
- Limit one prize per person. So don't answer all 5 questions, 'cuz you'll only win once and you'll give away all the answers!
- So there are 5 questions, that means 5 prizes & 5 winners.
- Post your answers here... that will let everyone see what questions are still up for grabs, and it will serve as documentation of who answered 1st.
- In the case of a dispute, final decisions will be based on the toss of a Magician's coin while standing on the international dateline.
- Prizes will be mailed upon completion of the contest
- This is all in good fun. Be nice.
And now, here are the questions (a couple may be simple, but I tried to pick a few that would take more than 30 seconds of Googling to answer):
1) What coin did I acquire? And here is the hint: (answered by tunnioc) 2) What is the name of the school paper at Texas A&M (College Station)? (answered by AmericanMafia) 3) What was the final score of this year's Spring Football Game at Texas A&M? (Hint, the offense won by 14 points.) (answered by docsfishn) 4) Okay, this is multi-step to make it more challenging to Google this one... In the National Statuary Hall Collection in the US Capitol, each state is represented by 2 statues. Texas is represented by 2 men. There is an NCAA Division I university named after each of these men. What are the mascots of those 2 universities? (2 answers... ____ and ____) *Hint: I'm looking for the universities named after the men... not named after the city in which the schools are located. (answered by OneBowl) 5) How many birds are depicted in the reverse designs of the US Statehood Quarters (not including the Territory designs... just the 50 Statehood Quarters)? (answered by nod2003) *This one my prove tough... we may be debating this one for a little bit before the prize is awarded. (JangoFett is bonus winner) Edited by specksynder 04/23/2011 6:57 pm

DING DING DING! Tunnioc has answered question 1! Now I can talk about the prizes. Each winner will receive a REAL 1944 War Nickel with silver content currently valued at about $2.62. (These are not pretty looking, but still...) In addition, they will receive a dateless Buffalo nickel. Just because. Congrats Tunnioc! (you can go ahead & message me your address for your prize, but I will wait to ship when everything has been answered)

Nod2003 - Your answer is locked in (and I believe it is correct). However, if anyone else wants to make a case for a different answer, I will entertain them. I'll post the list of what I counted tomorrow and people can look for errors.
Nod2003 is the first person to answer "11" to question 5!

DING DING DING! docsfishn has correctly answered question 3! They use a complicated scoring system that grades each play from scrimmage. This year the offense won the Maroon and White game 133-119.
Congrats docsfishn! (you can go ahead & message me your address for your prize, but I will wait to ship when everything has been answered)
