I looked through some 2005 rolls last night. Found one of the vague DDRs (004 or 020).

More interesting (to me) was this piece of what looks like the top of a column from a die clash under the ear. It's raised without metal displacement and the same, for lack of a better word, texture as the surrounding devices. It's a sharp angle. It looks like there was some attempt to blend it back in. The clash might have been at a slight tilt as only the Northeast corner protrudes or polishing took out the Southwest corner.

Surely it's a common thing. Simply fun to find.

Has anyone find one?

I know! I need a scope but it's visible.

I have found many, in fact I have a small collection of them from 2000 to 2007. Some from Denver also.

Thanks John. I'm up to 7 from this year of varying degrees, the least being just a top line. Are they in fact clash?

The attempt to blend in as you called it is just the difference of where the die fields are and the lower portion of the devices. The deeper the device in the die, the less apt it is to be touched during a clash. The shallow devices that are almost even with the field can be touch during a clash and some even get polished off. IE: The back of the neck, the throat, the roof on the Memorial just to name a few. It is the depth of the dies may or may not be affect during a clash.

Thanks coop! Excellent information! I deduced the neck was deep else why so common but I didn't see the mechanics. You laid it out.

Edit: Part of the "blending" I was talking about are the scratches below the bay. It looked like some attempt to smooze it back in. But I really have no clue. I thought the low neck was responsible for not being able to get rid of it easily. Thanks again.

Oh and teehee

We should name it Lower Left Center Incisor.
