I am looking for someone on this forum to post their own examples of MS60 graded coins by NGC or PCGS. I can't post photos but I think it would be very helpful for Forum members to see a few TPG examples..... Thanks ahead of time if anyone would be so kind.

Yeah Bryan, I have only 1-MS62 and none graded lower. I have many graded MS63-67 and I was hoping that some people on this Forum would have a few MS60's or even some 61's to share. My wish to see these examples are for various reasons but because I've seen Forum members grade Posters coins MS60-61 for various reasons I thought some TPG examples would be fitting for discussion.

The PCGS link I posted, while not a member's 60/61, still demonstrates actual coins graded 60/61 by PCGS.

Yes, I know, I'm not interested in that as their examples are mediocre at best and they only show 1 example. You need to look at many examples to get an idea of the variables. Thanks, mshev.

I don't think you folks are understanding the point of this thread! I have been colecting Morgans since 1968 and have seen thousands of examples of MS60/61's. I thought if we could get some posts up of Forum members examples we could discuss and use for future reference when grading. I don't consider myself the ultimate coin grader but I've seen and graded my share.I have though witnessed many coins posted here that folks have graded 60 or 61 only referencing nicks in the field or on the face never mentioning their thoughts on the coins Luster or Strike which are the biggest factor in giving a Morgan its grade...myself included. anyways...anyone have any examples that they can post, not links to other sites? Thanks again..

The problem we face, 1893S (and I say we because I'm having the same trouble while soliciting images from forum members) is that people generally don't collect them. I'm going to have to loot Heritage for MS60-61, I think.

Yeah, Thanks Dave...I think this would help us all in understanding MS grading. When I see a persons coin graded MS60/61 I wonder how they/we come up with this grade as bagmarks alone will not give you this. Up until about 1980, + or - a few years we considered all BU coins(MS60-to about MS64) as MS60, unless they were Gems, and then we considered them MS65. With this being said, I am really interested in an MS60 grade. I suppose only Key Dates are submitted for grading in what is considered MS60 condition as to get above the AU grade.

Honestly, man, MS61 fascinates me. MS60 is a kind of default - "It's Uncirculated, but FUGLY - and MS62 can be an MS63 wannabee. But MS61? Tough. In my opinion, the toughest grade to achieve.

Also Dave, I guarantee you that if any of us on the Forum had lots of $$$ and we hade the opportunity to buy an MS60 graded Key Date Morgan instead of an AU and without the possibility of aquiring any grade higher we would do it in a minute!
