Why is the 1973 large bust quarter never called a mule?
It has a 1972* obverse paired with a 1973 reverse.
There is no evidence that the obverse was changed early in production.
With an estimated quantity of 10,000 they could easily have come from one mistaken die pairing at any time during production.

It is a mule, but like I've commented before things so rarely happen to our coins here in terms of collectible variations that we name them all, thus obscuring the technical details of the variation.

This one is named Large Bust, maybe the next monarch will have one named "Chucks Cheese".

If Charlton's and trends correctly called them mules, how quickly would demand and thus prices rise?

The price is already pretty high considering the number there seem to be out there... so I'm not sure it would make a difference.

High grade business strikes seem a lot scarcer than the NCLT.

Agree with Ugly, we all know it's a mule, but call it LB as a descriptor.
Price is relative, and affected by many factors. There are less large bust 25c than 1948 dollars.

Similar to our '88 with the reverse of '89 here in the US. You never hear it called a mule. It is always referred to as a "transitional variety". Whether they have two different "technical" definitions, I don't know.

We named ours RDV-006. Flows a lot easier than "Large Bust", don't you think?
