For all the roll searchers. We have apartment buildings in San Diego with laundry machines. I extract and roll the quarters myself. I have found seven silver quarters so far this year, out of maybe $600. Today I got a 1951s. Usually I find three or four per year. The tenant profile has not changed. Has any one seen similar?

When I was in SD in 2008, a couple of 90% quarters turned up in change, common dates, average worn condition for date. Still have them, with other scrap silver, from all countries. I also scored a couple of 40% silver halves.
Way back in 1970, I was in Europe, and even then the most common silver coins I came across was the 20 drachma, 1960, of Greece, and the 5 franc of France, the 5 marks from Germany, and the 10 schilling from Austria. At the time I was there, the French and Greek coins had been replaced in current production with base metal equivalents. The German and Austrian ones were still in current production.
In the 12 weeks I was in Europe, I recovered about 20 silver coins from circulation.

I've been through about 500+ (not much by roll hunting standards) and picked up exactly 1. Still looking

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. Unlike a few years ago, when you either had to know somebody, or go to a library or book store, nowadays you can type the year and denomination into Google and find out if what you have is anything special. Most search results will include forums like this one. Then you can go to a local coin shop, local hotel (you know what I mean), craigslist, or ebay, and sell it.

I would say I usually find 1 silver quarter for every other box I buy 1 per 1000 quarters, sometimes I get lucky in between but that seems like the amount for me here in Buffalo

My brother just got a job at a Gas station. He got a nice 1948 quarter on like his 3rd day, and Just last week got 2 40% halves. I told him to look out for the silver. So that was his first monthly haul.

I would have to say yes, they are in pocket change these days. The reason I believe is this...
1. The economy has fallen, those who used to be able to afford to stash money away in a collection now are trying to get by and sacrificing.
2. The older collectors are passing and kids are using their collections as play money, not realizing their worth.
3. People stealing coins as a means to get by, only seeing them for their face value.
One mans Coin is another mans mortgage, and it seems to be happening quite a bit.
All of my coins have come as change through my job, keep em coming!
