I went on instructables website and found how to make a remote shutter cheap. This person made his for 3 bucks. It's so easy I think EVEN I can make one. I'm going to try this. I thought others may be interested in this. Edited by HeadsIWin 05/03/2011 11:30 pm

am I missing something ? when I take coin pics, my camera is on a tripod, and I use the timer, so I am not touching the camera when the pic is taken - no vibration.

Peter, depending on the setup..you can still have vibration from pressing the shutter even when using the timer...and when using a remote the chance of moving anything is decreased.

I have used my timer on my camera but this would be easier for me and I don't need to fiddle with my timer. I won't need to touch the camera at all once I have it set up.

Earle42...google "instructables" Thanks for the info, but I have an account there. I was just wondering which specific one he was using.

It's no different from a remote shutter, whose only use is to remotely trigger the shutter at the exact moment you wish to. You use it for wildlife shots and the like.

I may try to find some parts to make one something like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Timer-Remote-Sh...em1c1877d283 I understand the timer does the same thing but if you set the timer you have to wait for the timer to go off, what if you are taking a picture of something like a family portrait and something funny happens while you are waiting for the timer to count down, this way you can snap a picture over and over at any time you want without everyone having to freeze until the camera shutter counts down. I think its a pretty neat idea

I just made one of these, it is very simple to make and I mean very simple. I got mine from Walmart made by body glove. All I did was crack open the bean shaped cover and cut off the wires going to the microphone and to the earbud (the one I got only had 1) and it worked like a charm
