A few days ago when it was at $45, I picked up a little over 3 oz ASW of misc foreign coins for $34/oz. I guess there are deals to be had.

Well said Libertad! That is why I am hanging around watching to see where things go before I jump in. I already have a decent hoard I have accumulated over several years by being patient, avoiding the "frenzies" and making calculated purchases. I don't always hit the dip bottoms but I sure hit near them. Panic buying or panic selling seldom works out well in my experience.

I've got a small silver stash that I've had for quite a while. I haven't added to it in quite a while because I feel like the market has gone up too far too fast. If I were still a buyer of PM's it would be gold as I feel like it's price growth over the last couple years is sustainable.
Having said that, I'm also a small time "pocket" dealer/broker that buys to resell. I'm still willing to buy for resale it's just a little scary. I'm working with an estate that had a good sized collection that I'm negotiating in batches. Unfortunately for me I bought a fair sized batch last Friday that I'll be lucky to break even on unless I hold it. The seller doesn't want to hold the rest so I'll be getting other batches soon. Anyone in Alabama looking to swap cash for US silver coins?

I am neither buying nor selling at this time, since I have already sold all the silver I was willing to part with at $40. I have more to sell if it gets up to $60, but where some people do dollar cost averaging on the buy, I do it on the sell.

That is a good strategy Nod,it protect you from wild fluctuations and gives you flexability in working capital. My problem with that approach is finding local buyers and sellers. I have made my ransactions online and mailing and insurance costs can add up quickly.

I will be buying a silver eagle if the price goes down into the high 30's. I need one for my 7070 type album and was holding off while it was in the high 40's. I might crack and get one when silver price is around $40-$41, but would prefer it to go into the 30's (but that might not happen). If the price drops enough (low $30s maybe) I might start up on my Franklin set, but who knows.

its good to continually buy at the dip and at the highs as things average out. I'm watching and holding at the moment but may do a gold silver ratio trade if the ratio gets wider for silver.

just bought $9 face value of pre 1964 silver coins for my retirement stash.....no reason to stop building my retirement.....its not like precious metals will one day be worth nothing.....(like most retirement plans are now) just hope 45 years from now pm's will try and keep up with inflation a little better than they are now...... Silver hoard so far: Roughly 14- 1 oz rounds ASE's, Pandas, Grizzlies, etc.... Roughly $35 face value pre 1964 silver coinage Walkers, SLQ's, washingtons, etc..... It's fun to go through it all everynow and then just to see the history and to know that your retirement its physical rather than on a piece of paper that might not be there when your ready to cash in.......Im deffinitly still buying!

Silver is a wild ride for sure... Anyone interested in accumulating it in an intelligent way, with the intent of avoiding getting "whipsawed" should check up on a couple of strategies I have used over the years. They are put forth by a fellow by the name of Robert Lichello. Just plug his name into any search engine + AIM, or Robert Lichello + Twinvest - you'll see what I mean. Whether you've got just a lump sum - or money that you can invest monthly - he's got an interesting strategy that in my experience - is even more effective than dollar cost averaging, or double dollar cost averaging!

I'm still buying.
Nothing has changed.
Osama's death gave a little boost to the dollar, that is all that happened. Well, that and the markets increasing their marginal rates. Oh, well. It is just a matter of time before the physical buying jacks the price up again.
The sky is the limit.

Picked up 10 grizzlies so no, you're not the only one buying.
But wow, was my coinstore packed today!! huge range of ppl buying and selling. Person over the counter said its been busy since they opened, and the phone was pretty much off the hook.
she said it was pretty much 50/50 between who was there. Lots of older folks bringing in the junk silver coins, and gold jewlery. Lots of annoyance with silver plated items apparently. On the flipside, were buyers, some guy picked up a monster box while I was there, others buying 1/2 oz gold maples, etc.

w1a9etc... I will try to leave a website address - but usually get it removed when I try... here goes - http://www.aim-users.com/twinvest.htmThese strategies were deveoped by Lichello in the late 90's and are revealed and described in his book "How I made a Million dollars in the Stock Market - Automatically" They are not complicated strategies, and since then others have added and improved on his original idea. Unfortunately, it's a bit too much to cover in a post on this forum, but is well worth the time to anyone who is interested in patient accumulation (of anything - stocks or PM's), with special attention given to making sure you are buying at reduced prices, and profiting from price run ups !
