I haven't been able to find this exact coin in A.Marsh catalogue; it has a stamp on the front 'mrim'? and I'm curious to know how much it could be worth. All the coins I've seen have been without this stamp.

It's my understanding that a stamp like that means that this coin is a Middle-eastern jewellery copy of a sovereign, and not a genuine sovereign. Especially since the stamp seems to be part of the actual design transferred from the die, rather than a counterstamp. I believe the mark reads M21M, with the "21" in Arabic numerals most likely indicating 21k gold. It's still solid gold, but not a genuine coin, and if it really is 21k, worth slightly less than a genuine sovereign (22k).

Can we see the other side? What's the date and mintmark?

It's like some sovereigns I have seen in here in Greece. These were made in Lebanon Beirut in 70s and stamped in 21K or 22K.

Thanks for the responses. I'm sorry I forgot to include the back (however the back is the same as other 1911 coins ... just the stamp at the front)
