I picked up this UNC 1996 D High Jump dollar last week, tonight was the first chance to try and take some pictures.

Not sure if this can be called the key, because it is the second
lowest mintage (15,697), but Red Book and grey sheet has it as
the highest price. So I am thinking King might work

The Paralympics has the lowest mintage with 14,497.

Of course my hope is someday more people will want to put complete sets of modern commem's together, making these really rare coins.

Nice coin! Glad you finally got the HighJump. I am trying to put together a Modern set, I'm about 1/4 to 1/2 of the way there. If silver keeps falling I may be able to afford more :-)

when home I will check, but according to my notes, I have the 1996-P proof high jump. Those have higher production numbers than the unc versions?

The 2012 Red Book has the High Jump mintage as follows.
Proof 124,502 UNC 15,697

Most Proof versions have a much higher mintage than the same UNC coin.
I think there is only one that is not, 1998 RFK dollar.

I paid $260, which I think is a pretty good deal.
I have been watching and seeing them go in the $300+ range.

This is the first one I have seen sell local.

Speaking from experience, those Atlanta coins are painful. I did finally finish up a complete set of the Modern UNC&Proof halves and dollars. Probably my favorite is the Lief Erickson dollar. The 2011 Medal of Honor coin is also a wonderful commem for multiple reasons.

Atlanta basically was a repeat of the 1935-1938 commemorative half glut. Thank God the lawmakers and the Mint Director wised up and pushed for legislating two commemorative programs a year, otherwise the US could've ended up like Canada with her massive array of NCLT in various shapes, sizes, configurations, all designed to deplete a collector's wallet. I personally found the Atlanta Olympic coins poorly designed, not making good use of the coin space, even less so now with the higher prices of the uncirculated versions, so I really doubt I'd ever complete a modern commem set - rather buy the classic commems for that price, but kudos for those that do.

I have just the proof dollars and the Atlanta proof set is all I need for completion. Still I'm envious of having the uncirculated version of this rare commemorative.
