Okay, so I have a question. I saw on another CCF thread yesterday that it's illegal to sell counterfeits (in this case you're also passing off fake goods, so . . . ). But . . .

what if you sell a lot titled, say, "COPY OF 1877 Morgan dollar," and in the listing you're up-front that this is a counterfeit piece from China that you are selling specifically so that coin collectors can educate themselves? Still illegal?

Yes. It would still be illegal to sell according to the new rules regarding copy coins. It doesn't even matter if the word "copy" is stamped on the coin. I received an email some time back from ebay where this was explained. If buyers want them gone, ebay will make it their mission in life to completely eliminate them from their site. They are all about protecting the buyers, which is good, imo.

The flea market here in Marysville CA is always selling fake Morgans and such. They are all about 7 grams light. Once, I even saw a one-of-a-kind 1900 CC.
