My latest acquisition, direct from Daniel Carr himself. I just noticed the obverse picture has a speck of black dust on Liberty's "E". This is not a mark on the coin. Edited by DNA 05/13/2011 6:28 pm

Lovely...does he plan issuing overstrike '75 quarters and halves, too?

I'm honestly impressed at the quality of his work--could this be mistaken for a real Ike? Hopefully, there aren't many with his skill involved in making forgeries out there.

There are two versions of the "1975" Ike: The Cu-Ni coins are struck on circulated Ike dollars. ("MS-63" grade) Dan said he used Proof Ikes as the 'planchets' for the 40% Silver coins. ("MS-69 grade") The 40% "1975's" are in a high-grade "satin" finish that resembles Blue Ikes.

Ok, I absolutely must have one of these, my birth year is 1975 so I got cheated out of a few coins I do not see them listed on his site so how did you manage to acquire this lovely specimen?

I bought the coin yesterday from Daniel's booth at the Denver Coin Expo. Not to worry, I'm sure the 1975 Ikes will soon appear on his website.Update: They're on his website. Quote: my birth year is 1975 so I got cheated out of a few coins. Another good reason why Dan should overstrike a few 40% Bicentennial 3-coin Sets. biokemist6 isn't the only collector who was born in 1975!

Dan should be working for the Mint. His skill and eye for beauty is amazing.....he is a true artist. His Amero coins are awesome!

Nice. Thanks for sharing. Wish I would have known there was a coin expo in Denver. Oh well...what is 4 hours of driving one way. :)

Jealous? Not really. Okay, maybe a little. And a little scared, given how real it looks.
