I believe the year was in the early 30s. A friend of mine came across these - along with a bunch of other cool items.

The bills are not crisp - they are worn a bit. However they are not torn. Not overly attractive I might add.

What kind of money would they guy get for these? Here is the plan. He bought them for "face" value. The agreement is he will sell them at the highest amount he can get. The amount over face value will go towards a community center in his town.

He also picked up a ton of Ikes ranging from 1972 through 1977. Many of them are in decent condition and he has tons of bicentennial coins. It was kind of neat looking at all of them. Many had been out of circulation since back in the 70s is my guess. Also had some Susan Bs and Sacks.

I have yet to see all of what he got his hands on.

Any info on the bills would help him out.

Thanks

The coins aren't worth much over face value, but the bills may bring a small premium depending on the condition.

First of all

As far as information on the notes, keep in mind it is best to provide pictures! It is difficult to give much information on the notes without pictures - I would suggest attempting to provide some pictures of them for at least somewhat of an educated idea on value, etc.

I see asking prices on the $ 500.'s at about double face if in XF or better condition, but don't know what they actually sell for, probably best to check on e bay. I'm looking for a 1928 $ 500. but cant seem to find a nice one.

In circulated condition with folds a $500 note may go for around $700-$800 range. A really nice one may have a $1500 or more price tag on it. The note your friend has may not be in such good condition with stains etc. No way to really guess without some kind of picture to go by.

Saw this auction and was floored by the final price until I checked it out more closely:

Got to watch that shipping fee!

The buy/sell spread on circ $500s is pretty tight.
