Like the title says - just curious if anyone has run into any. In the last month, I've talked to three tellers in three different banks in three different towns near me that have had a $500 pass them by. So far I haven't been around when it's happened but I know there are a decent number of them still out there so who knows?

Last year I asked a long time teller at my Chase branch if she ever saw any $500 or $1000 bills come through and she said not in at last 15-20 years. I think most people would know that it might be worth more than the currency value to a collector.

I would love to own one of each. My father, who is 72, has told me that his father, who was a builder, would occasionally come home with some after selling a house.

When I worked as a bank teller the only time we never had any $500's deposited, but we did once have someone try to pass off a fake $1000 a very poor fake I might add

I, personally, have never seen any denom above $100, in circulation, but I think I remember reading on one of the currency forums that I frequent, that armored car drivers, actually, see a fair bit of $500's (and $1000's as well).
One thing I could not do, if I were an armored car driver, is deliver any of those old high denom notes to the Fed, for destruction. Unless they were really, really badly damaged, I would do everything I could to save them (within the law, of course) if I found one.

What dead presidents are on the $500, $1,000 and $100,000 dollar bills?

Wikipedia has pics and descriptions of all notes up to $10,000. The $100,000 has only been printed as a Gold Certificate and bore the portrait of president Wilson.

Nope! Not me. If I did, I hope I'm the only collector in line because I'll jump on it as if it were a new carnival ride.

I work at a credit union and one time we had a guy bring 3 $1000 bills in and cash them out for $100s. He had cleaned out hits grandpas safety deposit box after he died and found them. I tried to get all 3 of them but my boss took 2 of them and I got the other one.

Wait about ten years. You'll see new issues of the $500 and $1000 bills in circulation once again.

My friend had a part time job at wells fargo. He rode on the truck and carried a shotgun. He only worked there PT for a year or 2. He managed to get a 1000 bill once. He offered it to me for 150 over FV. I thought it was to used and I declined. He took it to a coin shop he dealt with and I have never had another chance to get one again for that price. Bad mistake on my part. lol

The fake that I saw was very very poor and ripped in half, the person asked if it was real before they tried to cash it so my boss wasnt willing to report them since they did ask about its legitimacy before they tried to get money for it.
