Don't know if anyone has ever noticed this and posted about it. But I was watching the movie 'Catch me if you can' just the other day. About Frank Abignale in the 1960 s. And whenever the bank tellers count out stacks of money it's all real money true to the period! Silver certs, us notes, pre 60s FRNs. Even a 1966 $100 USNote

Probably weird but pausing it and checking the bills was almost as entertaining as the show this time around, (hadn't seen the show for a while)

Thats pretty cool. I wonder how many movies and tv shows feature rare coins or period money? I remember a Hawaii five 0 episode that featured a 1913 V nickel.

Frank Abagnale actually was an advisor on the film. I think a lot of the accuracy was due to him being there.

the show Bones featured a 1943 Copper Cent once also. The guy that got killed was a collector and they stole his coins, this was the only coin left because he had it in his pocket wrapped in a napkin or wrapped in something (don't really remember what it was in) and they found out what it was worth and gave it to the guys family that was struggling for money because this guy spent allot on his coins (if I remember correctly)the episode was named The Blackout in the Blizzard

EDIT: I was wrong, the episode was named The Man in the fallout shelter. There are sites online you can watch the full episode if you just do a search for it if you didn't get to see it

American Buffalo with Dustin Hoffman and that guy from NYPD Blue, I think was from the 90's, was another movie with an undervalued nickel. I don't recall if the movie ever revealed the year, or why it was so valuable...

In No Country For Old Men, the BAD guy, Anton Chigurh, flips a coin with a store owner to decide if he'll kill him or not. It's a 1958 quarter. He even tells the guy the date on the coin. He also uses a dime to take out a screw out of a vent later, the dime also looks to be silver. The film is set in 1980.

If you know the movie, you know that Chigurh likes to make inocent people flip a coin to see if they'll live or die. He is a man with no soul and played the best/worst killer I've seen on film.

Javier Bardem won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the role. It's 4 1/2 minutes, but if you want to see the coin toss, click here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhXJcfczNIc GREAT SCENE.
