It is just the fact that it is the "obtainable" (vs. the unobtainable 1804 dollar) holy grail of coin collecting - THE 1909S VDB! It is probably the one single coin that all coin collectors would love to add to their collection- demand and hype are the real reasons for the prices you see. Report this Post to the Staff

Unless they're slabbed, people are hesitant to buy them on ebay (and rightly so) but they can always be found at coin shows. Report this Post to the Staff
